Adani Green Energy Claims Second Spot in Global Solar PV Developer Rankings

Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) has achieved the noteworthy position of the second-largest global solar PV developer, as revealed in the latest Annual Global Report by Mercom Capital Group. AGEL, representing the only player from Asia in this prestigious ranking, demonstrates outstanding performance and significant contributions to the global renewable energy landscape.

With an impressive total solar capacity of 18.1 GW, spanning operational, under-construction, and awarded (PPA-contracted) projects, AGEL solidifies its substantial standing in the worldwide solar energy sector. Mercom Capital’s Global Solar PV Developer Rankings place AGEL second, with France-based TotalEnergies securing the top spot with a total capacity of 41.3 GW.

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, expressed the company’s commitment to large-scale renewables, the development of an integrated manufacturing ecosystem, and green hydrogen sol utions.Adani stated, “At the Adani portfolio level, a total investment of $75 billion (by 2030) on our energy transition initiatives will further our vision to have 45 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030 and strengthen the pivotal role played by AGEL in India’s glide path to decarbonization.”

The report by Mercom Capital Group, a reputable clean energy communications and research firm, highlighted AGEL’s exceptional standing among the top ten global large-scale solar PV developers. Data collected from July 2022 to June 2023 included projects with more than 1 MW capacity, encompassing operational capacity, projects under construction, and those with awarded Power Purchase Agreements (PPA).

In this reporting period, the top 10 developers collectively accounted for 145 GW of operational, under-construction, and awarded (PPA-contracted) solar projects. Among these, 49.5 GW were operational, 29.1 MW were under construction, and 66.2 GW were in the pipeline (PPA-contracted).
