Exemplary figures recount tales of fortitude and tenacity
Ahmedabad, December 4, 2023: In observance of the International Day for Persons with Disabilities on December 3, the Adani Group orchestrated the Green X Talks. This event showcased individuals with disabilities who have surmounted formidable challenges through resilience and commitment, sharing their compelling life narratives. Held at the Adani Corporate House in Ahmedabad on December 4, the program spotlighted inspirational figures who have redefined boundaries in diverse ways, turning the seemingly impossible into reality.
Jeet Adani, Vice President of Group Finance at Adani Group, conveyed, “Green X symbolizes the immense potential within differently abled individuals. The color green embodies a world teeming with life, signifying growth, hope, and boundless possibilities. The ‘X’ conveys mystery, evolving into a powerful symbol of extraordinary talent awaiting recognition and cultivation. It represents the resilience of the human spirit, the determination to overcome challenges, and the strength to forge paths through adversity. At its core, Green X advocates for empowerment and inclusivity, considering each person, regardless of their physical or mental ability, as an integral part of our organization.”
Among the notable speakers was Ajay Kumar Reddy, captain of the Indian men’s blind cricket team since 2016, who led the team to victory in the 2017 Blind T20 World Cup and the 2018 Blind Cricket World Cup. Another speaker, Nipun Malhotra, a disability rights activist and social entrepreneur, shared his journey of overcoming accessibility challenges to achieve academic success and establish the Nipman Foundation.
The event featured a panel discussion on workplace accessibility and inclusivity, with panelists including Tarun Kumar Vashisth, the first Ph.D. candidate with visual impairment at IIM-A, Alina Alam, founder of Mitti Café, Dr. Anita Sharma, a disabled entrepreneur and DEI consultant, and Dr. Bhushan Punani, general secretary of the Blind Association and an IIM alumnus.
The inaugural performance by Rashmi Patil, a nationally acclaimed dancer with a hearing impairment, highlighted her dedication to Bharatnatyam. The event concluded with a captivating performance by Ankita Patel, a visually impaired singer with five years of professional experience.
