The All India Bar Association (AIBA) has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling for robust legal action against tech giant Google, alleging an orchestrated attempt to defame the Prime Minister’s reputation.

Chairman and Senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala of AIBA has accused Google of violating Sections 153A, 500, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code, citing the promotion of discord among groups through the dissemination of misleading and malicious information.

Senior Advocate Adish Aggarwala, also serving as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), highlighted that Google’s AI platform, Gemini, played a pivotal role in circulating highly condemnable false narratives about the Prime Minister.

In the correspondence, Aggarwala emphasized that the responsibility for the consequences of such actions cannot be absolved solely because they were executed by a machine. He argued that the design and programming of the AI system are pivotal in determining its output and impact.

With general elections looming, the AIBA stressed the urgency of halting any malicious campaigns aimed at tarnishing the image of political leaders. They underscored the Prime Minister’s efforts in elevating India’s global standing and warned against endeavors to besmirch the nation’s honor.

Concluding the communication, Aggarwala urged the invocation of penal laws and swift action against those found culpable of orchestrating such motivated campaigns.
