Union Home Minister Amit Shah orchestrated a grand roadshow in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday, rallying support for BJP candidate and former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The event witnessed a massive turnout of enthusiastic supporters and party workers who walked alongside Shah’s open-roofed vehicle.
During the roadshow, Amit Shah engaged with the crowd, greeting onlookers lining the streets and showering them with rose petals. The procession commenced from Mettukadai junction and traversed approximately one kilometer before concluding at the Old Bus Stand.
Addressing the gathered crowd, the Home Minister passionately urged the people to elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a third term, emphasizing the vision to propel India to become the world’s third-largest economy. “I urge all of you to make Modi Ji the Prime Minister of India for the third time. Help us make Bharat the world’s third-largest economy! PM Modi Ji has made Bharat secure and prosperous more than ever before. Press the ‘Lotus’ button and make us achieve ‘400 Paar’, this time!” exclaimed Amit Shah.
Shah also criticized the ruling DMK party, accusing them of disrespecting Sanatan Dharma and engaging in corruption. “The DMK party has hurt the sentiments of people by making insulting remarks on Sanatan Dharma. On the other side, the BJP respects everyone and believes in unity,” Shah asserted.
Highlighting the issue of corruption, Amit Shah urged the electorate to reject the prevalent corruption associated with the DMK and AIADMK, advocating for the BJP as the transformative alternative for Tamil Nadu. “The rampant corruption by DMK and AIADMK has deteriorated the very conditions of Tamil Nadu. I urge all of you to save Tamil Nadu from these corrupt parties and choose the Bharatiya Janata Party for unprecedented transformation in the State,” he declared.
Further emphasizing the BJP’s commitment to Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage and development, Amit Shah urged support for the BJP to usher in prosperity and progress. “PM Modi Ji has been working tirelessly to preserve and promote Tamil culture, Tamil language, and Tamil glory. Let’s support the BJP to make Tamil Nadu embrace development and prosperity,” Shah affirmed.
In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April 19, the BJP’s Pon Radhakrishnan will contest against Congress’ Vijay Vasanth and AIADMK’s Nazerath Pasilian for the Kanniyakumari seat. The elections in Tamil Nadu, comprising 39 Lok Sabha seats, will witness polling in the initial phase, with results to be announced on June 4. In the 2019 elections, the Congress-DMK alliance secured 38 out of 39 seats, leaving AIADMK with just one seat.
The Lok Sabha elections, spanning 543 constituencies across India, will unfold in seven phases starting April 19, with nearly 97 crore eligible voters set to participate in this pivotal democratic exercise.
