Anurag Thakur Denounces Kejriwal’s Contemplated Governance from Jail

Union Minister Anurag Thakur criticized the Aam Aadmi Party’s assertions that arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would continue to govern from jail, labeling it as an “insult” to the people of Delhi, law, and democracy.

Expressing his dismay, Thakur stated, “They are saying that Arvind Kejriwal will run the government from jail. This is an insult to the people of Delhi, law, and democracy… It is unfortunate that a political party that spoke about the corruption of the Congress, and demanded the arrest of Sonia Gandhi, has refused to appear before the ED even after 9 summons.”

Thakur questioned Kejriwal’s decision to avoid the investigation, suggesting that the entire party was embroiled in the liquor scam, which has come to light.

Similarly, BJP leader Ramvir Singh Bidhuri questioned the efficacy of Delhi’s excise policy, highlighting its purported flaws and financial repercussions. He criticized Kejriwal’s administration for allegedly causing a significant financial loss through the policy and questioned its sudden withdrawal.

Contrary to Thakur and Bidhuri’s assertions, Delhi Minister Atishi affirmed Kejriwal’s continuation as the Delhi Chief Minister, stating that he retains the right to govern even from jail until convicted.

AAP leader and Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj raised concerns over the alleged restriction on Kejriwal’s family visits by the Central government, accusing it of neglecting basic human values.

Meanwhile, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra highlighted Kejriwal’s defiance towards legal summons, emphasizing the importance of respecting the law. Patra asserted that Kejriwal’s arrest signifies a breaking of his pride and urged compliance with legal procedures.

Kejriwal is set to appear before a special court today following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate, which came after a series of summons regarding the liquor policy case. AAP supporters have initiated nationwide protests, with the INDIA bloc parties also backing Kejriwal and condemning the BJP’s alleged misuse of the ED for political purposes.
