Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot Reveals, “Despite My Intent to Depart, Chief Ministerial Role Clings”

Reflecting on an interaction in which a woman encouraged him to stay on as Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot, a prominent senior Congress leader, disclosed that he occasionally considers stepping down from his position, but it seems the chief ministerial post has a firm hold on him.

Addressing a public gathering, Ashok Gehlot recounted a conversation he had with a woman, sharing, “She advised me to continue as the Chief Minister of the state. I expressed my gratitude for her sentiments, but there are times when I contemplate resigning from the Chief Ministerial role. However, it appears that the Chief Minister’s responsibilities are not ready to detach from me.”

He further emphasized his readiness to accept the decisions made by the senior leadership of Congress. Nevertheless, he also underscored the significance of summoning the courage to express, “I wish to step away from the position, but it seems the position itself is reluctant to let go of me.”

CM Ashok Gehlot reiterated his thoughtful approach to articulating his thoughts, stating that he holds the directives of the High Command in high regard. Nonetheless, he highlighted the importance of voicing the inclination to depart from a role that persists despite his intentions.

Congress to regain power in Rajasthan: Sachin Pilot

In the preceding month, another Congress leader, Sachin Pilot, conveyed the party’s resolve to regain power in the state, affirming the collective endeavor to achieve this objective. During a party meeting concerning the upcoming Assembly elections, Pilot expressed confidence in the unified efforts of party leaders, MLAs, and ministers to secure victory in the impending state elections.

Pilot remarked, “Our discussions were comprehensive, substantial, and pivotal. We addressed all pertinent issues. Our organization, leaders, MLAs, and ministers are aligned in their efforts. As I’ve consistently emphasized, our objective remains the establishment of a Congress-led government once again in Rajasthan.”

Rajasthan is among the five states poised to hold assembly elections later this year, along with Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram. The Congress leadership has already engaged in strategic deliberations for the other states scheduled for elections.
