The Assam police made a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking, apprehending a drug peddler with a substantial quantity of heroin in Assam’s Cachar district. The arrested individual, identified as Abdul Hussain Laskar, was found in possession of 4.76 kg of heroin, with an estimated street value of Rs 24 crore.
Subrata Sen, Additional Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, provided insights into the operation, stating that it was conducted based on intelligence inputs regarding the transportation of narcotics in the Bagha Bazar area under the Dholai police station. The police team successfully intercepted the suspect and seized 30 soap boxes and four leather bags containing the contraband substance.
ASP Subrata Sen emphasized the gravity of the seizure, highlighting the substantial street value of the confiscated drugs. He revealed that the heroin was believed to have been illegally transported from the Aizawl district of Mizoram, underscoring the interconnected nature of drug trafficking networks across state boundaries.
As the investigation unfolds, the Assam police remain vigilant in their efforts to dismantle drug networks and prevent the proliferation of illicit substances. This operation serves as a testament to their commitment to combating drug trafficking and safeguarding the community from its harmful effects.
