Bhajan Lal Sharma Sworn In as Rajasthan’s New CM

In a historic event at the Ramnivas Bag in Jaipur, Bhajan Lal Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The first-time MLA took the oath of office during an elaborate ceremony attended by high-profile dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and chief ministers from various BJP-ruled states.

Governor Kalraj Mishra administered the oath to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Rajasthan. The ceremony also witnessed the swearing-in of BJP MLAs Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa as deputy chief ministers. Outgoing Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, despite the change in leadership, honored the democratic tradition by attending the ceremony.

The oath-taking ceremony at the historic Albert Hall was marked by extensive security measures and meticulous seating arrangements. The event drew attention not only for the political significance but also for the presence of key leaders shaping the future of the state.

Bhajan Lal Sharma’s journey to the chief ministerial position began with a resounding victory in the Sanganer assembly seat. He secured an impressive margin of over 48,000 votes, garnering 145,162 votes against Congress’ Pushpendra Bhardwaj, who received 97,081 votes. Hailing from Bharatpur district, Sharma emphasized that the new BJP team under his leadership would work in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.

In a statement to reporters, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said, “All our MLAs will work under the leadership of Modi ji to fulfill the aspirations that the people have from the BJP and take Rajasthan on the path of development.”

The announcement of Sharma as the chief minister completes a generational shift in three key heartland states – Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh – where the BJP achieved remarkable victories in recent assembly polls. The party secured a significant win in the November 25 assembly election, claiming 115 seats out of the 199 contested seats for the 200-member state assembly. In contrast, the ruling Congress party managed to secure only 69 seats.

The political landscape in Rajasthan is poised for a transformation under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, who has pledged to prioritize development and work towards realizing the expectations of the people. The swearing-in ceremony marked a significant moment in the political trajectory of the state, setting the stage for a new era of governance.
