An official in Bihar reported on Thursday that approximately 10 individuals are currently unaccounted for following the capsizing of a boat in the Bagmati River in Muzaffarpur. In the meantime, rescue efforts have managed to save 15-20 people.
Ajay Kumar, the Disaster Management officer in Muzaffarpur, informed reporters, “We have received information about 10 missing persons, and so far, 15-20 individuals have been rescued. A search operation is currently underway.”
The incident occurred between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. on the same day, prompting rapid responses from the NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured that assistance would be provided to the affected families, stating, “The District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur is leading the investigation into the incident. The government will extend assistance to the families of those impacted by this tragedy.”
