Bihar CM Nitish Kumar meets Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi on Sunday amid his aims to unite the opposition leaders against the Bharatiya Janta Party-led government ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Manoj Jha, too, met Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi.

This comes a day after Nitish Kumar attended the swearing-in ceremony of Karnataka’s new CM Siddaramaiah in Bengaluru. Earlier, in his address to the media, Kumar had addressed the Karnataka Assembly elections where Congress had a sweeping victory and urged for the opposition to come together. He had said to the media back then, “They (Congress) had a massive win (in Karnataka). If Opposition parties come together, that will be in the interest of the nation, efforts are underway for that.”

Kejriwal had also sought the support of the opposition parties over Cenrtre’s new ordinance related to the control of services in Delhi. He called the ordinance undemocratic and said, “I want to appeal to the Opposition parties to defeat this bill in Rajya Sabha when it comes to them for clearing. I will speak to each head of the party myself and will ask them to oppose the Bill. This is undemocratic and should not be passed.”
