The Lok Sabha on Thursday passed a bill that aims to create a Central Tribal University in Telangana.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s response to the debate resulted in the bill being passed.
The new university will be known as Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University, and the bill amends the Central Universities Act, 2009. It will be installed in Telangana’s Mulugu district.
The university has been allocated Rs 889.7 crore by the Center. According to the minister, Telangana’s Central Tribal University will serve the region’s needs for many years to come. For the people of the state, it will facilitate and promote access to higher education and research facilities while also improving the quality and quantity of higher education available.
Additionally, it will advance knowledge by giving India’s tribal population access to research and educational resources on tribal art, culture, and customs as well as technological advancements. The Central Tribal University will conduct all academic and extracurricular operations in the same manner as any other Central University, in addition to emphasizing tribal education.
In Telangana, a Central Tribal University is mandated by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014.
For the benefit of the state’s tribal population, officials stated that the university will support pathways to higher education and advance knowledge by offering research and teaching facilities in tribal art, culture, and traditional knowledge systems.
