In the midst of the controversy surrounding objectionable remarks made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri against BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nishikant Dubey has suggested that his fellow party lawmaker was provoked due to derogatory references by the Muslim MP towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Dubey stated, “The words used by him (Bidhuri) are not acceptable. I was present in the Parliament when all this took place. BSP MP Danish Ali kept calling PM Modi ‘neech’… If you would provoke someone by using derogatory remarks against the Prime Minister then definitely such a reaction will come.”
Additionally, BJP MP Dubey has penned a letter to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting the formation of an inquiry committee to assess the involvement of MPs who “instigate other citizens” through their comments in the House.
Dubey remarked, “We need to understand that people like Danish Ali and some leaders of Congress, DMK, and TMC are habitual offenders and they make derogatory comments to provoke BJP MPs.”
In his letter, Dubey also accused Ali of offering a running commentary during Bidhuri’s speech in Lok Sabha on Thursday and making unsavoury remarks aimed at instigating him to lose his composure.
He pointed out that such provocations can lead even patriotic representatives to react negatively and contribute to community enmity.
While Dubey condemned the remarks made by his party members in the Lok Sabha, he highlighted the need for a fair examination of the situation.
Ramesh Bidhuri’s offensive comments against BSP MP Danish Ali have led to outrage among Opposition parties, with demands for strong action against Bidhuri. Ali has issued an ultimatum to leave Parliament if the Speaker does not conduct an inquiry into the matter.
The BJP has also issued a show cause notice to Ramesh Bidhuri on the instructions of party president JP Nadda for his use of unparliamentary language against Danish Ali.
On the other hand, leaders from Congress, NCP, TMC, and DMK have written to Om Birla, urging action against the BJP leader and requesting that the matter be referred to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee.
In response, Congress leader Salman Khurshid criticized the BJP’s delay in taking action, while DMK leader Dr. Thamizhachi Thangapandian condemned the remarks and called for action against the BJP MP.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused the BJP of crossing limits and using language akin to street goons in Parliament.
Congress leader Nana Patole criticized the BJP, describing their behavior as harmful to democracy and a reflection of being intoxicated with power.
