Amid the clashes in the farmers protest between the police officials and the farmers the protesting farmers, near the Shambhu border, began to break barricades, in response to which the Haryana police fired rounds of tear gas to disperse the mob.
The police have come up with preparations to deal with the protest as the monitoring is done with the drones. The Haryana police had already alarmed the protesting farmers to stay away from the barricades and not attempt to break them.
However, a group of farmers pulled the barricades off the bridge which led the Haryana police fire warning shots of tear gas.
The police have been consistently monitoring the movement of the mob using drones. Additionally, farmers from the Haryana side have begun moving towards the Shambhu border, while law enforcement officers have been observed dispersing crowds and preventing the mob from Punjab from crossing the barricades.
Further rounds of tear gas were discharged around 12:15 pm. Protestors have been equipped with wet clothes and jute bags to shield their faces and eyes.
SDM Rajpura Jasleen Kaur, upon reaching the highway police picket at Shambhu, informed the Indian Express, “Ambulance personnel have been instructed to remain in their vehicles in case of emergencies.”
