BREAKING: TMC Suspendes Sheikh Shahjahan For 6 years

The Bengal government (Trinamool Congress) has reportedly decided to suspend Sheikh Sahjahan from the party for six years. The party came forth with the decision after the West Bengal police made an overnight arrest of Sheikh.

The arrest was made over the charges of sexually assaulting of woman in his constituency – Sandeshkhali in West Bengal.

Informing that the arrest was made within 24 hours of the Calcutta High Court’s Assertion that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) or the West Bengal Police could proceed with his arrest.

Following his arrest, he was brought before the Basirhat court, where he was remanded to 10 days of police custody.

According to police reports, Sheikh was apprehended about the two cases filed at the Nazat police station. These cases were connected to an incident where Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers were assaulted during a raid at his residence on January 5, about a ration scam investigation.

Authorities reported that he was charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 147 (pertaining to rioting), 148 (related to rioting while armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (concerning unlawful assembly), 307 (involving attempt to murder), 333 (pertaining to causing grievous hurt to a public servant), and 392 (related to robbery).
