The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have formed an alliance for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Telangana. BRS leader K Chandrasekhar Rao declared that the Nagarkurnool and Hyderabad Lok Sabha seats will be contested by BSP, out of a total of 17 constituencies in Telangana.
According to an official statement from BRS, Rao has allotted these two seats to the Bahujan Samaj Party as part of their pre-poll alliance, which was announced on March 5 following discussions between KCR and the state BSP president R S Praveen Kumar.
KCR highlighted the ideological alignment between the two parties, citing initiatives like Dalit Bandhu implemented during his previous BRS government for the welfare of Dalits and other communities.
The state BSP chief expressed that the collaboration with BRS aims to safeguard Telangana from the BJP and what he perceives as the BJP-like tendencies of the Congress. He also criticized the BJP, attributing to it the erosion of secularism in the country.
On March 13, BRS announced that KCR and other party leaders held a meeting at his residence, attended by Ramji Gautam from BSP’s Rajya Sabha and Praveen Kumar.
As of now, BRS has unveiled candidates for 11 Lok Sabha seats in Telangana.
