BSP suspends Danish Ali for Involvement in ‘Anti-Party’ Activities

BSP suspends Danish Ali for Involvement in ‘Anti-Party’ Activities

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) took the decision to suspend MP Danish Ali on Saturday, citing his involvement in anti-party activities. In a letter addressed to Ali earlier that day, the party emphasized that he had been repeatedly instructed not to make comments or take actions contrary to the party’s policies, ideologies, and discipline. The letter reminded Ali of his past association with Dewe Gowdaji’s Janata Party and his participation in the Karnataka assembly polls held in alliance with the BSP. Despite assurances and a ticket from the BSP for the Amroha assembly constituency, Ali’s actions were deemed contrary to the party’s interests, leading to his immediate suspension.

Danish Ali, currently serving as a Lok Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha, faced derogatory remarks from BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri in the Lok Sabha. The incident sparked a political controversy, with Ali threatening to resign from Parliament unless action was taken against Bidhuri. The opposition, collectively condemning the comments as “hate speech,” rallied behind Ali. BSP Chief Mayawati also expressed support for her party’s MP. Accusations were exchanged, with some BJP members claiming that Ali made derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech.

The Privileges Committee of the Lok Sabha, responsible for investigating complaints of “abusive” and inappropriate remarks during a parliamentary session, witnessed arguments from both Ramesh Bidhuri and Danish Ali on Thursday. The controversy has unfolded against the backdrop of the ongoing suspension of Danish Ali from the BSP due to alleged anti-party activities.
