Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has been invited to appear before the Central Investigation Agency (CBI) in connection with a sand mining case.
The sources claim that Yadav has been invited to testify as a witness before the CBI in Delhi on February 29 in connection with an investigation into sand mining that was referred by the High Court.

He has been called about the CBI File Report (January 2019) concerning suspected illicit mining in Hamirpur from 2012 to 2016.
A formal complaint (FIR) was filed in January 2019 against several public servants, including the district magistrate and mining officer at the time. According to the FIR, government workers approved of illicit mineral mining in Hamirpur.
Between 2012 and 2017, Akhilesh Yadav served as the state’s chief minister. From 2012 to 2013, he oversaw the mining sector.

In its First Information Report, the CBI claimed that individuals were permitted to unlawfully extract minor minerals, steal minor minerals, and demand money from leaseholders and the drivers of the vehicles that transport minor minerals.
On Wednesday, however, the chief of the Samajwadi Party came out strongly against the BJP, charging that the party is afraid of the INDIA bloc and is trying to split other parties. In addition, Akhilesh Yadav promised to take action against the seven rebel MLAs who crossed over to vote for the BJP in Tuesday’s Rajya Sabha elections.

The BJP secured eight of the ten seats up for election in the Rajya Sabha, while the SP secured two seats. After seven SP MLAs cast dummy votes, the BJP fielded eight candidates, including former RS MP Sanjay Seth, who eventually won the race.
