Celiac Society of India to Host International Symposium on Gut Health & Lifestyle Disorders

Addressing the rising interest in allergen-free diets and growing concerns about gut health, the Celiac Society of India (CSI) is excited to unveil the second edition of its key event – the International Symposium on Gut Health & Lifestyle Disorders. Set for January 20, 2024, at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, the symposium will focus on “Millets for the Microbiome: Your Way to Wellness.”

The symposium aims to address the pressing issue of nutritional deficiencies and chronic degenerative diseases, ranging from obesity and diabetes to heart disease and mental health issues, by focusing on the crucial role of gut health. With a growing awareness of food sensitivity among both the public and medical professionals, the event aims to shed light on the intricate connection between gut health and overall well-being.

Recognizing the gut as the “second brain” and acknowledging that a significant portion of the immune system resides in the gut, the symposium emphasizes the words of Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, who stated, “Bad digestion is the root of all evil, and death sits in the bowels.”

The symposium will feature global experts addressing under-diagnosed food sensitivities, the correlation with leaky gut, and the impact on the microbiome and inflammation. Statistics revealing the substantial increase in Celiac disease since 1970 will be examined, unraveling the role of commonly consumed grains as major contributors to gut-related disorders.

Aligned with the International Year of Millets 2023, the event will draw the attention of medical professionals, nutritionists, scientists, students, patients, caregivers, chefs, industry experts, and regulatory agencies. The spotlight will be on the significance of millet cultivation and the benefits of integrating millets into modern-day diets.

Millets, celebrated for being gluten-free, fiber-rich, micronutrient-rich, hypoallergenic, drought-resistant, and eco-friendly, will take center stage. The symposium aims not only to educate but also to showcase an expo featuring health food companies and other related products. Live demonstrations on millet cookery will be a highlight, encouraging individuals to incorporate millets into their diets.

The symposium promises a day filled with valuable information, learning, and practical insights into the nexus between gut health, lifestyle disorders, and the transformative potential of incorporating millets into daily nutrition. Join CSI in this journey towards promoting good health and wellness.
