Chiranjeevi and Family Vote in Hyderabad for Telangana Assembly Elections

Megastar Chiranjeevi, accompanied by his family, made a significant contribution to the democratic process by casting their votes at the polling booth in Jubilee Hills on Thursday. Standing alongside his wife, Surekha Konidala, and daughter, Sreeja Konidela, the iconic actor encouraged citizens to participate actively in the ongoing Telangana Assembly elections.

Chiranjeevi, with a notable political history, initiated the Praja Rajyam Party in 2008 in the then-united state of Andhra Pradesh. The party made a mark by winning 18 out of 294 seats in the 2009 general elections. In 2011, he merged the Praja Rajyam Party with the Indian National Congress, leading to his nomination to the Rajya Sabha in March 2012. During this time, he served as the Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism. Since the 2014 elections, the megastar has remained distant from active politics.

The ongoing Telangana elections, spanning 119 Assembly constituencies, witnessed elaborate preparations, with polling stations opening at 7 am and set to conclude at 6 pm. A total of 2,290 candidates from 109 national and regional parties, including 221 women and one transgender candidate, are vying for the votes of 3.17 crore eligible voters. Noteworthy is the provision of a home voting facility for citizens with disabilities and those above 80 years, with approximately 27,600 voters availing this service. Additionally, 1,000 voters have registered for the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System.

Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi’s return to the cinematic forefront with ‘Mega 156,’ a fantasy entertainer directed by Vassishta, adds another layer to his multifaceted persona. Produced by V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, Pramod Uppalapati, and Vikram Reddy under UV Creations, ‘Mega 156’ promises to captivate audiences on a grand scale.
