Earlier in the day, the Dehradun police registered a case against Mahesh Singh Jeena, the BJP MLA from the Salt constituency in Almora, Uttarakhand, based on a complaint. The complaint alleges that Jeena verbally abused Municipal Corporation employees, threatened them, and obstructed government operations.

“Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has initiated an investigation into the altercation between the BJP MLA and the Dehradun Municipal Commissioner,” officials stated.

Salt is an assembly constituency situated in the Almora district, within the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The case was registered at the Dehradun City Police Station.

The Dehradun police have filed charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 147, 186, 504, and 506, against the MLA. These charges relate to the MLA’s alleged verbal abuse of Municipal Corporation employees and senior officials, as well as threats of violence and obstruction of government duties.

The case was filed based on a complaint lodged by Yashpal Singh, Secretary of the Municipal Corporation Drivers Association, against MLA Mahesh Jeena and others, the police reported.

Meanwhile, the IAS Association has condemned the incident, denouncing it as “illegal interference” in the executive’s legal processes, according to a statement. The association has also accused MLA Jeena of “indecent behavior,” the statement noted.
