Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami engaged with the residents of Garur village in Uttarakhand’s Bageshwar district during a public interaction on Sunday. Official reports indicate that CM Dhami attentively listened to the concerns raised by the villagers. Furthermore, he provided the local community with updates on the initiatives and efforts undertaken by his government for their welfare.
The by-election in Bageshwar became necessary following the unfortunate passing of Chandan Ram Das, the sitting MLA who also served as the Minister for Transport and Social Welfare in the Dhami administration. Mr. Das, who had represented the Bageshwar constituency for four consecutive terms since 2007, passed away suddenly due to cardiac arrest on April 23. In response to his demise, the state government declared an official mourning period lasting three days.
Sources indicate that the chief minister is likely to expand his council of ministers following the upcoming by-election in Bageshwar. As part of his tour of the Bageshwar district, CM Dhami conducted a roadshow on Saturday in support of Parvati Das, the widow of the late MLA and the BJP’s candidate for the by-election in Garur, Bageshwar.
Addressing the crowd during the roadshow, CM Dhami expressed confidence in securing more votes than the previous election. He acknowledged the challenging circumstances surrounding this election due to the absence of Chandan Ram Das and emphasized the importance of unity and support for his widow. The chief minister urged the people of Bageshwar to not only offer condolences to Parvati Das but also extend their blessings to her.
