Cold Weather Persists in Delhi; Residents Gather Around Bonfires for Warmth

As cold weather conditions persist in the national capital, residents were spotted gathering around bonfires to keep warm early on Saturday morning. Visuals from the Chandani Chowk area depict groups of daily wage workers huddled near bonfires, braving the chilly winds.

Last week, North India, including Delhi, experienced severe cold and dense fog, causing travel disruptions and inconveniences for passengers. However, recent showers in the Delhi-NCR region have alleviated the fog, improving visibility for commuters.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), minimum temperatures ranging from 5-10°C were recorded over most parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, with temperatures below normal in the region. The IMD reported the lowest minimum temperature of 2.7°C at Sikar in East Rajasthan, with isolated pockets of cold wave observed in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, cold weather and dense fog affected Delhi and several places in Uttar Pradesh, leading to delays in flights, trains, and other modes of transportation.

February in Delhi typically offers pleasant weather, making it an ideal time to explore the city’s historical sites, gardens, and culinary delights. With temperatures ranging from approximately 10.6°C to 23.5°C and nearly 11 hours of sunlight daily, the cool breeze and low humidity levels create a comfortable atmosphere for sightseeing and outdoor activities.
