A memorandum was presented to Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais by a Congress delegation led by state party chief Nana Patole, urging the dismissal of the Eknath Shinde-led government in the state due to concerns over the law and order situation. The letter highlighted findings of weapons in the possession of children and an influx of illegal arms into the state, expressing grave concerns over the safety of women and public representatives. The delegation alleged deliberate efforts to disrupt the state’s social harmony and exacerbate law enforcement challenges. Citing recent incidents of violence, including the killing of former Shiv Sena corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar and assaults on journalist Nikhil Wagle, the letter emphasized the alarming rise in lawlessness. Furthermore, it underscored Maharashtra’s rich cultural heritage and its historical contributions to social, political, educational, and cultural realms. The delegation stressed the state’s pivotal role in shaping national direction but lamented the deterioration in its law and order situation, once renowned for its effectiveness.
