Congress Leader Digvijaya Singh Raises Concerns Over Election Commission’s Response

In Rajgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Digvijaya Singh expressed dissatisfaction with the Election Commission’s handling of queries and meetings, stating that they do not respond to issues and do not allocate time for discussions. He highlighted this during parliamentary sessions and outside of the House, emphasizing three fundamental questions regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems.

Singh’s primary concerns revolve around the nature of EVMs, their connectivity to the internet, and the software installed in VVPAT machines. He questioned whether EVMs operate independently, the internet connectivity status of VVPATs, and the specifics of the software utilized in VVPATs. Despite repeated attempts by his party since April 2023 to seek clarification and engage in dialogue, Singh lamented the lack of response and time allocation by the Election Commission.

Expressing frustration, Singh criticized the Election Commission for what he perceives as a biased approach in their operations. He pointed out the challenges faced by a national party in obtaining time for discussions and resolution of queries, highlighting a perceived lack of impartiality in the Commission’s functioning.

This statement by Digvijaya Singh underscores ongoing debates and concerns surrounding electoral processes and transparency in India’s democratic framework. It highlights the importance of open communication and accountability within electoral bodies to address stakeholders’ queries and uphold democratic principles.
