Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured support from the Central government, engaging with Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. Shah emphasized the central government’s commitment to providing necessary assistance, including the deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams.
In response to the impending cyclone, the Indian Railways has mobilized its machinery for disaster management. An emergency control cell has been set up at the divisional/HQ level to monitor and manage railway operations in the affected areas.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has taken stock of the situation, enquiring about the damage caused by heavy showers and overseeing relief and rescue operations. The state faces significant challenges, with strong winds uprooting trees, extensive waterlogging, and disruptions to daily life. Chennai, in particular, is grappling with severe waterlogging, impacting various areas including Wallajah Road, Mount Road, Anna Salai, Chepauk, and Marina Beach.
As ‘Michaung’ inches closer to landfall, residents are urged to follow safety guidelines, and authorities are working tirelessly to minimize the potential impact on lives and property. The situation remains dynamic, with continuous monitoring and swift responses essential to ensuring the safety and well-being of those in the cyclone’s path.
