The Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibet, offered his congratulations to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful completion of India’s lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. In an official statement, the Dalai Lama expressed his admiration, stating that the accomplishment of Chandrayaan-3’s landing is a tribute to India’s historical commitment to scientific advancement.
The Tibetan leader also commended the efforts of the ISRO chairman and the team of scientists who diligently worked on the mission, aiming to showcase India’s scientific and technological prowess. He applauded their dedication and highlighted how their achievement demonstrates the maturity of India’s scientific capabilities.
Speaking as someone who has spent a significant amount of time in India, the Dalai Lama celebrated this significant achievement and expressed confidence that the Indian Scientific Research Organisation will continue to lead in future scientific endeavors. He concluded his message with prayers and well-wishes.
After a 40-day journey through space, the Chandrayaan-3 lander named ‘Vikram’ successfully landed on the unexplored lunar South Pole, marking India as the first country to achieve this feat.
This achievement also places India among a select group of nations—including the US, Russia, and China—that have accomplished successful lunar landing missions. The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft skillfully positioned the Vikram lander horizontally on the lunar surface during landing. The spacecraft was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, on July 14th.
