Danish Foreign Minister Highlights Strengthened Bilateral Ties with India, Emphasizes Green Strategic Partnership

Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen commended the deepening cooperation between India and Denmark, citing the elevation of bilateral ties to a higher echelon. Multiple Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were inked between the two nations, underscoring their commitment to fostering collaboration across various sectors.

Addressing reporters, Minister Rasmussen expressed pride in witnessing the global footprint of Danish companies in India, emphasizing the significance of bolstering economic relations between the two countries. Reflecting on his previous visit less than a year ago, he alluded to the potential for further engagements, hinting at future visits that could solidify bilateral cooperation.

Highlighting the green strategic partnership between India and Denmark, Minister Rasmussen underscored their joint focus on key areas such as energy, water, financing, and technology. He hailed the partnership as instrumental in advancing mutual interests and addressing pressing global challenges, particularly in the realm of climate change.

The Danish Foreign Minister’s visit coincided with his participation in the ongoing Raisina Dialogue 2024 in the national capital, further underscoring the importance of diplomatic engagement between the two nations. Notably, India and Denmark are actively involved in two working groups dedicated to energy transition and climate sustainability, reflecting their shared commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Green Strategic Partnership, a cornerstone of India-Denmark relations, emphasizes the expansion of economic ties and collaboration on green growth initiatives. This partnership aligns with India’s broader agenda of sustainable development and underscores the mutual benefits of cooperation in addressing environmental challenges.

From former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s historic visit to Denmark in 1957 to the present day, the relationship between the two countries has continued to evolve, driven by shared values and interests.
