Singh emphasized the goal of not only defeating terrorists but also winning the hearts of the people.

Following the Poonch attack, the Indian Army plans to reinforce the Poonch-Rajouri sector against Pakistani terrorists. An additional brigade-size formation and other supporting units will be deployed to enhance the counter-terrorist grid. The local police are intensifying their intelligence efforts, while a Staff Court of Inquiry is investigating lapses in operations.

Sources suggest that Pakistan seeks to escalate tensions in Poonch-Rajouri to influence troop reduction on the northern border with China. Despite challenges, security forces have succeeded in reducing terrorist activities in the Kashmir valley.
