Delhi Chalo march: Police prohibit gatherings, tractor entry at Delhi-UP border

Amidst the protest march to the nation’s capital that farmers have called for, Delhi police have issued an order banning public gatherings at all borders between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Sunday.
Additionally, tractors, trolleys, buses, lorries, and commercial vehicles from Uttar Pradesh are not allowed to enter the National Capital by the police.
According to Delhi police’s official announcement, the order that went into effect today would be in effect until March 11 unless it is revoked before then.

No protester would be permitted to carry any kind of weaponry, including guns, swords, trishuls, spears, rods, etc., according to the directive.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police’s office in Delhi’s North East District issued the directive.
The directive was pushed through after Delhi police claimed to have learned that certain farmer organizations had called on their followers to congregate in the nation’s capital on February 13.

“Information has been received that some farmer organisations have given a call to their supporters to gather in Delhi on February 13 for their demands of the law on MSP and others. They are likely to sit at the border of Delhi until their demands are met. In order to avoid any untoward incident and to maintain law and order, a precautionary order under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 1973, is required to be issued to save lives and property in the area,” read the order.
Meanwhile, security has been increased near the Tikri border amid calls issued by farmer organisations to march to the national capital on February 13.
