Delhi Metro to Commence Operations at 4 am During G20 Summit

In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced special measures to accommodate the event. From September 8th to September 10th, 2023, the DMRC will initiate train services at 4 am.

In a statement, the DMRC clarified, “For the upcoming G-20 Summit to be held in Delhi on 9th and 10th September 2023, the Delhi Metro train services will start from 04:00 AM from terminal stations of all Lines for three days, from 8th to 10th September 2023.”

During this period, the metro trains will operate at a 30-minute frequency on all lines until 6 am. Subsequently, metro services will resume their normal timetable throughout the day on all lines.

The DMRC emphasized that all metro stations, except the Supreme Court Metro Station, will remain open to the general public during this time. However, boarding or deboarding of passengers will not be permitted at the Supreme Court Metro Station on September 9th and 10th due to security constraints.

Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director of Corporate Communications at DMRC, stated, “As and when directed by the security agencies, entry/exit at some stations may be regulated for a brief period in the New Delhi district on the 9th and 10th of September to facilitate the movement of VVIP delegations.”

Furthermore, Dayal mentioned that parking will remain available at all Metro stations except three stations in the New Delhi district: Supreme Court, Patel Chowk, and Rama Krishna Ashram Marg. These stations’ parking facilities will be closed from 4 am on September 8th until 12 pm on September 11th.

Considering the significance of the G-20 summit in the national capital, the DMRC has urged its passengers to cooperate in ensuring the smooth operation of Metro services. Passengers are encouraged to follow station staff instructions and adhere to guidelines issued by authorities to prevent the spread of rumors.

To stay updated on Metro services, passengers are advised to follow DMRC’s official social media accounts on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram. Additionally, the ‘Delhi Metro Rail’ App and the official website www.delhimetrorail.com are valuable sources for information. Passengers can also use the ‘DMRC Travel’ App for instant QR ticket bookings, eliminating the need for ticket counter visits or waiting in queues.
