In the aftermath of the daring daylight robbery that took place inside the Pragati Maidan tunnel on June 24, 2023, the Delhi Police Crime Branch has made significant progress in its investigation. Five individuals have been apprehended in connection with the incident, leaving victims and concerned residents eager for a positive settlement.
The Delhi Police swiftly began an extensive investigation into the incident, utilizing advanced techniques and examining around 350 CCTV footage recordings. The efforts, combined with information provided by the victim, led to the identification and subsequent arrest of the accused.
The individuals, namely Manoj, Ravi, Rahul, Sonu, and Deepak, have confessed their involvement and now face charges of robbery, criminal conspiracy, and possession of illegal weapons, as outlined under sections 397 and 34 of the IPC.
The incident, which occurred during broad daylight, sparked concerns about overall security in the area. In response, security measures within the Pragati Maidan tunnel have been specially reinforced. The Delhi Police have increased their presence and implemented vigilance to reassure the public and prevent potential criminal activities in the area.
These measures aim to restore a sense of safety and security to residents and commuters who use the tunnel. “Around 1,587 people were taken into preventive custody by the police from the Central district area last night. They have been detained under section 107/151 of CrPC,” said Delhi Police.
The swift response from law enforcement authorities and the subsequent arrests after the robbery has provided a measure of reassurance to the community. “We have ramped up security in the tunnel and are taking necessary steps to prevent such incidents in the future. The safety of the public is our utmost priority”, stated Delhi Police.
