Delhi Police Apprehend Two Members of Lawrence Bishnoi Gang in Vasant Kunj

In a daring operation, Delhi Police successfully foiled an extortion attempt by members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, apprehending two individuals after a brief exchange of gunfire in the Vasant Kunj area on Friday night.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Anish and a 15-year-old juvenile. According to police sources, the duo was allegedly en route to carry out an extortion-related firing near a renowned 5-star hotel in South Delhi when they were intercepted based on specific intelligence inputs.

A brief exchange of gunfire ensued as the police moved in to apprehend the suspects. The accused fired a total of five rounds, while the police, in self-defence, retaliated with two rounds, resulting in no injuries, confirmed the authorities.

Both Anish and the juvenile were swiftly taken into custody, and two sophisticated pistols along with four live cartridges, as well as the motorcycle used in the crime, were seized by the police.

A case has been registered under relevant sections 186/353/307/34 IPC of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Arms Act at the Special Cell police station, highlighting the seriousness of the charges against the arrested individuals.

Police investigations revealed Anish’s extensive criminal history, with involvement in six prior cases, including armed robbery, Arms Act violations, and assault, all within the Rohtak district. The juvenile, too, was found to have a history of involvement in an earlier armed robbery case in Rohtak.

Authorities emphasized that further investigation is underway to delve into the details of the extortion attempt and to ascertain any potential connections to the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate. The successful operation by the Delhi Police underscores their commitment to maintaining law and order and curbing the activities of organized criminal groups in the region.
