On the completion of three years of the National Education Policy (NEP), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan highlighted the policy’s focus on providing education to students in their mother tongue. Speaking to ANI during the ‘Gyan Kumbh’ exhibition, the Union Minister mentioned that a significant number of students from different parts of the country are participating in the event, and the NEP has prioritized imparting education in their mother tongue.
The New Education Policy, launched in 2020, aims to revolutionize India’s education landscape by promoting inclusive and accessible learning opportunities. Recognizing the importance of mother tongue-based education, the policy emphasizes the use of native languages as a medium of instruction for young learners. This approach is rooted in the understanding that students grasp concepts better when taught in a language they are familiar with, enhancing their comprehension and cognitive abilities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his address at the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, reiterated the significance of the NEP 2020 in shaping India’s future. He interacted with children and adults, encouraging their participation and celebrating their achievements. The Prime Minister also underscored the need to evaluate talent based on merit rather than language, highlighting the policy’s commitment to providing equal opportunities for all.
Guided by the vision of Prime Minister Modi, the NEP 2020 envisions nurturing the youth as catalysts for India’s growth and development. By fostering critical thinking, creativity, and innovation, the policy aims to equip students with the skills required to tackle real-world challenges and contribute meaningfully to society.
The Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam, held on July 29-30, provided a platform for academics, policymakers, industry representatives, teachers, and students to share insights, success stories, and best practices in implementing the NEP 2020. The event’s 16 sessions covered various themes, including Access to Quality Education and Governance, Equitable and Inclusive Education, and the Internationalisation of Education.
The NEP 2020’s emphasis on mother tongue-based education aligns with India’s diverse linguistic heritage and fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of regional cultures. By empowering students with education in their mother tongue, the policy aims to bridge the gap between traditional knowledge systems and modern education.
As the nation marks three years of the NEP 2020, the Akhil Bhartiya Shiksha Samagam serves as a testament to India’s commitment to creating a transformative and inclusive learning ecosystem. With continued efforts to implement the policy’s principles, India moves forward with the vision of nurturing a skilled and empowered generation, capable of steering the country towards a prosperous future.
