Karnataka CM race: DK Shivakumar reaches Kharge’s Residence in Delhi

DKS also warned that he would file a defamation case against the media channels that are making a false claim over his resignation.

Karnataka CM race: DK Shivakumar reaches Kharge’s Residence in Delhi

President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee DK Shivakumar warned that he would file a defamation case against the media channels that are making a false claim over his resignation. This comes amid Congress deliberating on who will take the oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka. DKS is one of the frontrunners for the post along with former Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah.

ANI quoted Shivakumar as saying, “If any channel is reporting that I am resigning from the post, I will file a defamation case against them. Some of them are reporting that I will resign. My mother is my party, I built this party. My high command, my MLAs, my party are there.”

Meanwhile, DKS has reached the president of the Indian National Congress Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence in Delhi ahead of the big decision. Kharge is also set to meet Siddaramaiah.

Meanwhile, as all the eyes are set on Siddaramaiah and DKS, senior Congress leader G Paraeshwara has also thrown his hat in the ring for the CM’s post. The former DY CM of Karnataka said on Tuesday that he was ready to “take up the responsibility” if the “high command decides and asks him to run the government.”

“I have faith in the party high command. I have certain principles. I can also take about 50 legislators and do the shouting, but for me the discipline of the party is important. If people like us don’t follow things, there won’t be any discipline in the party. I have said that if the high command gives me the responsibility, I will take it up. I have not said I won’t,” Paraeshwara said.
