The ruling DMK has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of violating the Model Code of Conduct by making remarks deemed insulting to Hinduism during his campaign for the INDIA bloc.
In a letter dated March 21 to the Election Commission, DMK’s Organisation Secretary R S Bharathi quoted Modi’s statement alleging repeated insults to Hinduism by the INDIA alliance. Bharathi emphasized that such comments constitute a gross violation of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and the Model Code of Conduct.
Bharathi urged the Election Commission to swiftly intervene and cease campaigning based on false narratives, religion, and divisive methods. He requested appropriate action on the complaint and urged the Commission to provide clear directives to ensure compliance with legal guidelines during campaigning.
