In the tranquil terrain of Assam’s Cachar District, a collaborative effort by the Assam Police and Assam Rifles has revealed the depths of the narcotics trade. Acting on a tip-off in the Jaydhonpur region, under the watchful eye of the Dholai Police Station, authorities apprehended 21-year-old Baharul Islam, exposing 126 grams of brown sugar concealed in 10 soap cases.
“During the operation, the police apprehended a person, namely Baharul Islam (21 years old), and after a proper search, they found 10 soap cases containing brown sugar weighing about 126 grams. Thereafter, observing all formalities, the NDPS seized the items and arrested the accused person. Further legal action is being initiated,” Numal Mahatta, Superintendent of Police of Cacha said.
On February 25th, acting on confidential information, a search operation was carried out by a Cachar district police team in the warehouse belonging to an unidentified individual in the village of Jaydhonpur, under the jurisdiction of the Dholai police station. During the operation, 150 sacks suspected to contain Burmese supari were discovered.
“During the search operation, 150 sacks suspected to be Burmese supari were recovered and seized under proper procedures. Further legal formalities are being observed,” the senior police officer said.
