Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s decision to skip the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons over the alleged liquor scam has drawn criticism from BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra. Patra suggested that Kejriwal can engage in Vipassana even in jail, emphasizing the need for accountability.
Patra highlighted Kejriwal’s previous response to ED summons, citing governance and election commitments as reasons for non-compliance. The BJP leader questioned Kejriwal’s priorities, stating, “So someday Kejriwal ji will go for an election campaign, someday he will go for meditation. But he will never be accountable.”
Drawing a connection between Kejriwal’s actions and the ongoing investigation, Patra remarked, “Kusashana and Vipassana can’t go hand in hand. If you have done kusashana, then you will have to face jail-asana. And we are not saying this; your ministers are saying this.”
Amid the controversy, Patra assured, “But don’t you worry, Kejriwal can do Vipassana in jail also. There are such provisions.”
Responding to the ED summons, Kejriwal asserted his readiness to accept legal summons while deeming them politically motivated and calling for their withdrawal. Patra, in his criticism, brought up the mimicry row involving a Trinamool Congress MP mimicking the Vice President, noting instances of personal attacks within the INDI alliance.
Regarding the mimicry incident, Patra remarked, “The vice president was body-shamed by the Trinamool MP. But this was not the first time the INDI alliance parties did something like this. They commented on the complexion of the President, they called Rashtrapati rashtrapatni.”
Patra also commented on Mamata Banerjee’s response, stating, “I saw Mamata Banerjee’s reaction too. She said Rahul Gandhi was responsible. Rahul Gandhi was not only recording the act. He interacted; it was a theatrics going on.”
In conclusion, the BJP spokesperson criticized the INDI alliance, stating, “Liquor and insult are the two glue that is keeping the INDI alliance together,” while referencing ongoing investigations into financial matters.
