Ex Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa Booked Under POSCO

An FIR has been lodged against BS Yediyurappa, the former Chief Minister of Karnataka and a senior leader of the BJP, on allegations of sexually assaulting a minor girl. The charges filed against him include violations of the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act and section 354(A) of the IPC.

This FIR was registered by the Sadashivanagar police in Bengaluru following a complaint made by the mother of a 17-year-old girl.

It’s crucial to note that the complainant, who is the mother of the victim, has a history of filing multiple cases, including a sexual assault complaint in the past. This background information has led to discussions about the complainant’s credibility and whether there might be any ulterior motives behind the accusations.

Karnataka’s Home Minister, G Parmeshwar, has stated that the police are investigating the matter, and the truth will only be ascertained upon completion of the investigation. He has refrained from commenting on claims regarding the mental health of the complainant or any potential political conspiracy.

Regarding Yediyurappa’s status in light of these allegations, Parmeshwar has not commented on whether Yediyurappa will be detained or arrested, citing the standard operating procedures followed by the police in such cases.

It’s important to remember that BS Yediyurappa served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on multiple occasions before resigning in 2021 amid political speculation and public dissatisfaction. He was succeeded by Basavaraj Somappa Bommai, who took office as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka and served until May 2023. Bommai has been announced as the BJP candidate for the Haveri constituency in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

As the investigation progresses, more details are likely to emerge regarding the allegations against Yediyurappa and the credibility of the complainant.
