A family returning from Chhath in Bihar was attacked in Lakhisarai, leaving two dead and four injured.

In a tragic incident on Monday morning, two members of a family were fatally shot, and four others sustained injuries in Punjabi Mohalla under the Kabaiya police station in Lakhisarai district, Bihar. The victims were attacked while returning home after offering prayers at Chhath Ghat.

According to local authorities, the violence stemmed from a matter related to a love affair. The three injured individuals were initially taken to Begusarai Sadar Hospital but were later referred to Patna for more extensive medical treatment.

The deceased have been identified as Chandan Kumar and Rajnandan Kumar, while the injured include Lovely Kumari, Preeti Kumari, Durga Kumari, and Shashi Bhushan Kumar, all of whom are reported to be family members.

Pankaj Kumar, SP Lakhisarai, stated, “Two members of a family were shot dead and four others were injured in Punjabi Mohalla under the Kabaiya police station of Lakhisarai. The incident took place when they were returning from Chhath Ghat after performing Pooja.”

He added, “Three injured have been referred from Begusarai Sadar Hospital to Patna. The matter is related to a love affair. Police have reached the spot and an investigation is underway.”

Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the scene and recovered a pistol used in the crime. The shocking incident has left the local community in a state of grief, occurring during the auspicious Chhath Puja celebrations in Bihar.
