In South Delhi, Gaurav Singhal, a 29-year-old gym trainer, was reportedly stabbed 15 times in his face and chest at his residence on Wednesday, just hours before his wedding.
According to the police, Gaurav was allegedly murdered by his father, Ranglal, who was later apprehended in Jaipur. Ranglal had disappeared shortly after the incident, triggering a search operation that led to his swift arrest by the evening. Authorities were alerted around 12:30 am on Thursday, and upon arrival at the scene, they discovered Gaurav Singhal had sustained knife wounds and was transported to Max Hospital by his relatives.
During the inquiry, investigators found bloodstains inside the house, indicating that Gaurav’s body had been moved, presumably in an attempt to conceal the crime scene, after the fatal stabbing.
According to the police, Gaurav’s wedding ceremony, arranged by his family, was planned for Thursday. However, there are suspicions that Gaurav may have desired to marry someone else but yielded to family pressure.
Gaurav frequently engaged in arguments with his father regarding this matter.
On the contrary, senior police official Ankit Chauhan revealed that Gaurav’s father, Ranglal, absconded from the residence with jewelry valued at Rs 50 lakh and cash totaling Rs 15 lakh. It is believed that during a confrontation, Gaurav slapped his father, leading Ranglal and his three accomplices to fatally assault Gaurav before fleeing with the valuables.
While the precise motive behind the homicide remains uncertain, the police are investigating all possible avenues.
