On their 18th wedding anniversary, Kalpana, wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, penned a heartfelt note expressing her absence from her husband’s side as he remains incarcerated following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case. Despite Hemant Soren’s absence, Kalpana voiced her belief that he would overcome the “conspiracy” against him and reunite with his family soon.
In her note shared this morning, Kalpana reflected on Hemant Soren’s commitment to safeguarding Jharkhand’s identity, even in the face of adversity. “Hemant ji did not bow down because he wanted to protect Jharkhand’s identity. He preferred to fight this conspiracy and dedicated himself to this cause,” she conveyed through Hemant Soren’s social media profile.
Acknowledging the poignant milestone of their 18th wedding anniversary, Kalpana expressed her longing for Hemant’s presence with their family, yet remained optimistic about his eventual return. “Today is our 18th wedding anniversary, but Hemant ji is not with his family, with his children. We believe that he will defeat this conspiracy and be with us soon,” she shared, emphasizing her role as the life-partner of a resilient leader.
विश्वास है वो… pic.twitter.com/aBnXEugVkB

Asserting her resolve to remain steadfast in the face of challenges, Kalpana affirmed her commitment to supporting Hemant during this ordeal. “I am the life-partner of a brave Jharkhand warrior. I won’t be emotional today. Like Hemant ji, I will smile in difficult circumstances and become his strength,” she added.
Hemant Soren is currently under investigation for his alleged involvement in a racket concerning the illegal change of land ownership by mafia in Jharkhand. Despite denying the allegations against him, Soren has accused the BJP of exploiting central probe agencies to undermine a democratically elected government.
In a strategic move, Hemant Soren resigned as Chief Minister just before his arrest, paving the way for his close aide and senior JMM leader Champai Soren to assume the position. The new government comfortably cleared the floor test on Monday, solidifying its position amidst the ongoing political turbulence.
Prior to Champai Soren’s appointment as the JMM legislative party leader, there was speculation regarding the possibility of Kalpana assuming the reins of leadership. However, this proposal was met with resistance within the party, including from the Soren family, with Hemant Soren’s sister-in-law Sita Soren questioning the suitability of Kalpana, who lacks political experience, for the top post.
