Officials from a medical facility in Pune City, Maharashtra, have reported that former President Pratibha Patil, aged 89, has been hospitalized for the treatment of a fever and chest infection. Her condition is said to be stable.
Patil was admitted to Bharati Hospital on Wednesday night. According to a senior official at the hospital, she is currently receiving treatment and being closely monitored.
Patil served as the President of India from 2007 to 2012, making her the first woman to hold the position.
