G20 Summit: Delhi Traffic Police issues alert on second day

As the pivotal Day 2 of the G20 Summit approaches, enhanced security measures have been enacted in various sectors of the national capital on Sunday. The Delhi Traffic Police issued a noteworthy advisory, declaring the implementation of “Police Controlled Zone 2,” resulting in the suspension of bus services along the Ring Road segment spanning from ISBT Kashmiri Gate to Sarai Kale Khan. Nevertheless, buses will continue operations on the remaining section of Ring Road and the road network extending beyond Ring Road towards the perimeters of Delhi.

In connection with the G20 Summit, traffic regulations have necessitated a recommendation for airport-bound commuters to opt for Rao Tula Ram Marg over Dhaula Kuan, as stipulated in the advisory. Furthermore, the advisory affirmed the continuity of other traffic regulations that have been in effect since September 8, 2023.

The inaugural day of the G20 meeting in Delhi was characterized by stringent security measures, ranging from vacant roads to disrupted mobile networks. Leaders from across the globe converged at Bharat Mandapam on Saturday for this significant gathering. To uphold airtight security during this assembly, the city was declared a no-fly zone, and mobile signals at the venue were intentionally interfered with to deter any potential breaches. The security apparatus left no detail unaddressed while simultaneously prioritizing passenger convenience.

The meticulously devised traffic management plan, designed for this high-profile summit in the Delhi-NCR area, was initiated at 9 pm on September 7 and will persist until the conclusion of this major event.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Rishi Sunak, embarked on a visit to the Akshardham Temple in New Delhi on Sunday morning to offer prayers. In anticipation of the UK Prime Minister’s visit, extensive security arrangements were meticulously implemented in and around the temple premises.

The distinguished delegates visited Rajghat today, and paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi and participated in a tree-planting ceremony. A live performance featuring devotional songs associated with Mahatma Gandhi has also been thoughtfully planned for the day’s program.
