This special Doodle is part of Google’s initiative to celebrate the Olympics through a series of animated icons. On the inaugural day of the Paris Olympics 2024, Google revealed that it would update its Doodle daily, featuring animated characters—primarily birds—engaged in various Olympic sports.
Google marked the opening of the Summer Olympics with an earlier GIF of birds floating down a river in their sports gear, which was unveiled on July 26, the day before the Games officially began.
