Google Pixel 8 series was named the best Smartphone of 2023 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) for its performance, innovation and industry leadership.
For the first time, a Google Pixel phone won this prestigious award, leaving behind rivals such as the iPhone 15 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S23.

The award was presented at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) hosted by GSMA. At the annual event, achievements in various technology categories such as “Best Telephone Network Infrastructure” and “Best Telephone Network Infrastructure” are rewarded. Google won the best “Smartphone” award in the “Devices” category.
GSMA announced the criteria for the awards as follows: “The Best Smartphone Awards recognize excellence, innovation and leadership, as analyzed by independent analysts, journalists and stakeholders, based on the 2023 Survey of commercially available smartphones. January 2020 – December 2023.”

The Google Pixel 8 series became popular last year with its updates and artificial intelligence innovations. Last year, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro was hailed as the best, while last year, the iPhone 13 Pro Max received the title. Galaxy S21 Ultra was chosen as the best phone of 2021. Although the Pixel 6 Pro was on the 2021 shortlist, the Pixel 3 night vision won the 2019 GSMA’s “Disruptive Device Innovation” award.
