In response to the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri questioned Rahul Gandhi, a key leader in the party, about his consideration for justice (Nyay) for the Sikh community members who endured atrocities in 1984.
Puri expressed his concerns, stating, “I want to ask Rahul Gandhi if he has contemplated justice for the victims of our community who suffered in 1984. Has he visited and offered apologies to the affected people? Rahul Gandhi appears distracted and makes statements without much thought. His associates have made unfortunate remarks about Sanatana Dharma.”
Commenting on former Congress leader Milind Deora’s decision to join Shiv Sena, Puri mentioned his longstanding acquaintance with Milind and his father Murli Deora spanning three to four decades. “I have known Milind Deora, and his father Murli Deora, for 30-40 years. He has joined Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde, and since we have an alliance with them, we will collaborate,” Puri added.
Milind Deora’s departure from the Congress marked the end of his 55-year association with the party, a connection that originated from his father Murli Deora. This move coincided with the commencement of Rahul Gandhi’s nationwide ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ from Thoubal in Manipur. Party chief Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi flagged off the yatra, which is slated to cover over 6,700 kilometers across 67 days, spanning 110 districts.
