Haryana Elections: Olympic Stars Manu Bhaker and Vinesh Phogat Among Early Voters

Voting for Haryana Elections 2024 began at 7 am. Many key figures including politicians like Manohar lal Khattar were among the early voters. Haryana, known for its outstanding contribution to Indian sports, also saw two Paris Olympic stars, Manu Bhaker and Vinesh Phogat, casting their crucial vote. While it was first time voting for Manu, Vinesh  also casted her vote for the first time after makin a solid entry in Haryana Politics, contesting on Julana Seat as a congress candidate.

Manu Bhaker Caste her Vote In Jhajjar

India’s shooting sensation and Olympic double-medalist, Manu Bhaker, casted her vote for the first time in her home district, Jhajjar, Haryana. The 22-year-old, who brought India two medals from the Paris 2024 Olympics, was seen waiting patiently in line with her parents at the polling station.

Manu expressed her excitement about participating in the democratic process, “Being the youth of this country, it is our responsibility to cast our vote for the most favorable candidate. Small steps lead to big goals,” she said after casting her vote. Her parents also cast their votes alongside her.

Vinesh Phogat Casts Her Vote in Charki

Congress candidate from the Julana Assembly Constituency, Vinesh Phogat, arrived at a polling station in Charkhi Dadri on Saturday to cast her vote for the Haryana elections. With a strong background in sports and now a rising political figure, Phogat emphasized the importance of the elections and the need for active participation from the public.

Speaking to ANI after casting her vote, Phogat described the election day as a “huge festival” for Haryana. “It is a very big day for the people of the state,” she said, urging the citizens to come out and exercise their voting rights. “I am making an appeal to the people of the state to come out and cast their votes,” she added, reinforcing the importance of every vote in shaping the future of the state.

Reflecting on the state’s past, Phogat highlighted the era when Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the former Chief Minister of Haryana, was in power. She credited Hooda’s government for significantly supporting and enhancing the sports sector in Haryana. “Ten years ago, when Bhupinder Hooda was the CM, the level of sports in the state was really good,” Phogat stated.

In a direct appeal to women voters, Phogat emphasized, “Vote for the party that works for the rights of women; you all know which party I am speaking of.”

Phogat also touched upon the sensitive issue of the treatment of farmers, alluding to the controversies surrounding the BJP-led government’s handling of farmers’ protests and agricultural policies. “People have not forgotten what the BID did to the farmers,” she remarked, referring to the hardships faced by farmers in recent years, particularly during the protests against the contentious farm laws.
