Haryana Government Declares Winter Vacations for Schools From January 1 to 15 Amidst Expected Cold Wave

In anticipation of an impending cold wave, the Haryana Government has announced winter vacations for all government and private schools in the state. The break is scheduled to commence from January 1 to January 15, 2024, with schools set to reopen on January 16, according to an official circular issued by the state administration. The decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students amidst the expected severe cold conditions.

The Haryana Chief Minister’s office shared the information on its official Twitter handle, emphasizing the government’s proactive approach to the increasing cold. The circular directed all District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers, and principals to adhere to the guidelines provided by the Haryana Government during this period.

As per the India Meteorological Department’s recent observations, minimum temperatures ranged from 4-8°C across most parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi. With a forecast indicating a rise of about 2°C in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours, the state is gearing up for colder conditions.

Dense fog conditions are expected in the morning hours in isolated pockets of Haryana on December 24th and 25th, posing potential challenges for commuters and residents. The Haryana Government’s decision to implement winter vacations aligns with the need to prioritize the safety and health of students amid the challenging weather conditions.

Parents and educational institutions are advised to stay informed about any further updates from the state government regarding school schedules and guidelines. The proactive measures taken by the Haryana Government demonstrate a commitment to the welfare of its citizens during the winter season.
