During a fervent address at the ‘Raithu Gosa-BJP Bharosa’ rally held in Khammam, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched into a striking analysis of the political landscape, drawing attention to the inherent characteristics of the Congress party and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS). With a shrewd touch of metaphor, he labeled the Congress as a ‘4G’ entity, denoting its sprawling legacy that spans four generations rooted in a single family lineage.
This moniker served to encapsulate the long-standing presence of Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi within the party’s leadership. In a contrasting vein, he bestowed the ‘2G’ label upon the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, acknowledging its two-generation trajectory under the stewardship of KCR and KTR.
Amit Shah’s words resonated with confidence as he confidently predicted that neither the ‘2G’ nor ‘4G’ narrative would secure victory in the imminent Telangana elections. With an air of inevitability, he proclaimed that the time had arrived for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to ascend to power in the state, signaling a seismic shift in the political landscape.
In response to the allegations leveled by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge about a covert camaraderie between the BJP and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), Amit Shah firmly and unequivocally refuted any such affiliations. He made it explicitly clear that the BJP was in no way inclined to forge an alliance with either KCR or Asaduddin Owaisi. Instead, he reaffirmed the BJP’s determination to directly confront these political entities.
In a strategic thrust, Amit Shah trained his rhetorical lens on KCR’s alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi, casting it as a decision that had disillusioned the aspirations of the fighters of Telangana Mukti Sangram over the course of the last nine years.
Shah’s discourse took an accusatory turn as he accused KCR of harboring nepotistic ambitions. The widely circulated belief that KCR intends to anoint his son, KTR, as his successor was unabashedly addressed. However, Amit Shah boldly asserted that the much-anticipated baton-passing would not materialize in the upcoming elections.
With conviction, he announced, “We are well aware of your aspirations, KCR, to bestow the mantle of the state’s Chief Minister upon KTR. Nonetheless, in this electoral battle, the mantle of Chief Minister will not be claimed by either KCR or KTR. Rather, it will be a member of the BJP who will seize this position.”
As the Telangana Assembly polls loomed on the horizon, the political stage was set for a three-pronged competition between the BJP, the reigning BRS, and the Congress. Beyond the confines of the state, this impending election held implications of greater magnitude. It emerged as a crucible for both the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the INDIA alliance, serving as a crucial testing ground for their popularity and strategies ahead of the pivotal 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
