Late Wednesday night in East Delhi’s Ghazipur, chaos ensued as a speeding taxi careened through a bustling market, resulting in the tragic injury of at least 15 individuals and the loss of one woman’s life.

Identified as 22-year-old Seeta Devi from neighboring Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, the deceased victim fell prey to the reckless actions of the reportedly intoxicated taxi driver.

Of those struck in Ghazipur’s Budh Bazaar, seven individuals sustained critical injuries, prompting swift transport to the nearby Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital. Among them, Sarita recounts the harrowing experience of being hit while shopping with her daughter.

She describes the sudden impact from behind, resulting in injuries to her face and leg, while her daughter also suffered harm.

The taxi, en route to Mayur Vihar Phase 3, found its trajectory altered by the driver’s intoxication, leading to the disastrous collision within the crowded Budh Bazaar around 9:30 pm.

CCTV footage captured the vehicle’s loss of control, careening into pedestrians, stalls, and nearby shops. As locals rallied, the taxi attempted to flee, only to be pursued and intercepted.

A subsequent video depicts the enraged crowd confronting the taxi, vandalizing it in retaliation for the havoc caused. Both front airbags are visible, a testament to the severity of the incident and the danger faced by those involved.
